They have grown so much I now have multiple times the volume of what they sent me.
What you see there is not even all of it. I have put up 5 half gallon jugs with grains and this is what I still have left.

One reason I ordered from this company (from among the choices on Amazon) is that they advertise that the grains were grown originally in organic raw milk, the same type of milk I like drinking and making kefir from.
The grains that arrived were white (like they should be) and smelled fresh. There was at least a tablespoon of live grains in the package, maybe more. (This was great; some sellers only send a tiny amount of dried up grains which have to be brought back to life, as it were.) The grains in the package smelled slightly yeasty, which makes sense as they had likely digested all the milk that accompanied them on their journey through the U.S. mails.
A little insert gave directions on how to make kefir. I appreciated the insert, though the type is pretty tiny. My only suggestion for the seller is, maybe use larger type for customers who don't have perfect eyesight :) The video they referred people to in the insert (TeamingWithNature on Youtube) is one of my favorites, showing clearly how to make kefir from the grains.
I took the grains out of the baggie and put them in a glass jar filled about 2/3 full with fresh raw organic milk. (Don't fill the bottle all the way.) I closed the plastic lid tightly, then I set them on a shelf in my home office, the warmest room in the house because my computer's always on. I "burped" the container once, to let excess pressure escape, then put it back on the shelf.
After 24 hours, I took the lid off... the kefir smelled great... I poured it out through a strainer, and put the cultured milk into a new jar. Then I added milk again to the first jar. Then I put both containers in a warm place.
I had thought I might need to toss out the first batch, because as they say, kefir can take a couple of tries to adjust to a new source of food (such as a different kind of milk). But it didn't, and I didn't. The first batch was delicious, after two days of culturing.
I would highly recommend this product, and the seller.
